  WHAT WE DO

Kids Managing Conflict has been finding ways to bring dispute resolution tools to students since 2007, and will continue to support youth that want to resolve conflicts peacefully.  In just the last 10 years, KMC has been able to provide 41 California schools with $115,000 in grants.

Each grant provides funds to:

TRAIN students with the same skill sthat professional mediators use

CREATE a structure for an on-campus Peer Mediation Program

PROVIDE assessment tools that highlight positive changes to their school environment, and to identify areas for new future growth.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

For our First Year Grant Recipients, KMC helps get their first peer mediator training, and establish their own program.

Our Second and Third Year Recipients use funds to train NEW mediators, and for program growth and sustainability.

HOW DOES PEER MEDIATION

Suppose one of their "peers" (fellow student) has been trained to use a dispute resolution process for people their own age.

Will our two students feel more understood, and less judged or punished, by the School Administrators, or one of their Peers with mediator skills?
