The Celebration of Peer Mediation honors student mediators and recognizes best practices from an outstanding KMC school. We will be giving away the Judicate West Peacemaker of the Year Award. There is no charge to any student or accompanying adult. This will be a hybrid indoor-outdoor event with beautiful ocean views. Be sure to wear something festive for the Mardi Gras theme.

Do you currently know a student who is an exceptional peacemaker?  We would love to invite you to nominate a student for the Judicate West Peacemaker Award that we will be giving out at our Celebration of Peer Mediation Event.  You can nominate them by clicking on the link below.

The kids are speaking...are we listening?

Celebration of Peer Mediation

President Sally Patchen makes statement about Black Lives Matter at the Annual Celebration of Peer Mediation June 10, 2020

Kids Managing Conflict believes that Black lives matter and stands as an ally with the Black Lives Matter movement!  We are in support of all peaceful protest to bring attention to racial injustice not only for George Floyd and Breonna Taylor but also for the unjust killing of unarmed Black people by police over time.  Sometimes I feel hopeless and afraid that nothing will change. However, when I hear the young people that we support talk about what they have done and what they continue to do to create change in their schools, homes, and communities I am reminded of the impact of peer mediation programs. We need unwavering and consistent attention to the Black Lives Matter movement and never become complacent again. James Baldwin said that ‘Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.’ We believe that these students have the tools and the ability to change the world for the better.
